Christmas Chaos  

Nothing in my family is ever really a calm, relaxing, sipping-tea type of moment. And of course, why should it be otherwise for Christmas? For one thing, my mom had the ingenious (no offense Mom) idea of getting the boys, meaning Carl, Doug, and my sister's boyfriend Cody, all potato guns. So they opened them up at the same time and each package included two potatos...

Let me just be the first to tell you that by the end of the potato gun wars, there was a hole in the the dining room wall, Carl and Doug resorted to choking each other out, someone stole a yam to use, the women were hiding as much as possible, and my Mom's living room floor was literally COVERED in little potato chunks. Here's your proof:

Growing Pains  


So, I decided to take a page from my sister's book and start a blog about the ongoings of my family in the making. I thought 'Growing Pains' was an appropriate title considering that I find myself suddenly filling the mommy role in Ella's life during those times when Carl and I are blessed with her small, but already strong presence in our home and while Ella learns and grows in life, I am learning and growing as a sudden parental figure of a 3-year old.

That said, here are some of my favorite one-liners from the Holidays:

Look, I'm making pootfrints in the snow!



Maybe Pappy will take me for a ride in his snowflow (snowplow)

Look, I put this puzzle together all by myself - I've got skills!



I'm hungry. Can I have a tambourine? (tangerine)

To my mom: You don't know me. I'm not Ella, I'm the Sugar Plum Princess!

And then there was the confusion over my statement that we were going to be making some crafts together - this became apparent when half way through making paper bag puppets she said, 'Hey, I thought you said you were making some crab' and then again later when I checked in on our chicken that was baking in the oven. 'Is that the crab? I thought we were making crab?'
